Last orders for The Reed and The Tanners Arms Hotel

Date published: 12 October 2017

In recent weeks, last orders have been called in two popular Rochdale town centre pubs, The Reed and The Tanners Arms Hotel.

Former landlords of the Reed, Gavin and Becks McCluskey, posted a statement during the early hours of Wednesday morning (11 October) about their decision to call last orders.

It read: “Through no fault of our own, we have decided to walk away due to the influx of idiots that have descended into the pub creating problems and causing trouble, dragging down what we built into a good pub with great people and an absolutely wicked atmosphere."

They added that it "was no longer worth it", after Becks was assaulted.

They continued: “We thank you all for your support and the loyalty that has been shown. We have met and had the privilege of knowing you all and we thank you for giving us an absolutely brilliant three years at The Reed. We love you all and it has been an honour.”

The Tanners Arms Hotel, located at Town Head lights, closed the doors for good on 22 September, less than a month after the premises went on the market for over £250,000.
